Power Pivot

Power Pivot is a powerful tool for data modelling and analysis within Excel.

Power Pivot was first introduced as an add-in for Excel, but later it got integrated into Excel.

Power Pivot allows users to import large volumes of data from various sources, create data models, create relationships, and perform data calculations using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions, the data modelling language).

The data calculations are defined and stored as DAX formulas, with meaningful business names, in the data model, and are called Measures. The measures get evaluated at run-time to display the results in the format chosen by you.

Power Pivot’s capabilities are being enhanced continuously, adding support for a wider range of data sources, improved visualization options, and better collaboration features. The user experience is being refined, making it easier for users to manage and analyze large datasets.
